We specialize in total skin check and mole removal
Skin cancer is by far the most common type of cancer. The two most common types are basal cell cancer and squamous cell cancer. They usually appear on the head, face, neck, hands and arms; in areas with greater sun exposure, but can appear anywhere on the body.
The third type of skin cancer, melanoma, is less common, but it is the most dangerous by far.
Although anyone is susceptible, people who spend a lot of time outdoors, use tanning beds or smokers tend to be at a higher risk.
Other important risk factors are:
- Having fair skin, hair and eyes
- Prior personal history of skin cancer
- A family member with skin cancer
- Age 50 years and above
The first sign may be a small bump of slow growth, sometimes resembling a pimple. A sudden change in a mole or the appearance of a red or yellow, rough and scaly patch can also be a sign of alert.
The key to detecting skin cancer in the early stages is knowing your skin and visiting your dermatologist for a total skin check.
Most skin cancers can be cured. Even cases of melanoma, if detected on time before it spreads to other organs occur.
If you or a family member are suspicious or have been diagnosed with skin cancer, we can further discuss with you the best treatment options.
